About & Contact

Berchman.com is the digital studio of Bert Mahoney.
I handmake custom WordPress websites and help solve website related problems for people. I share some of what I’ve learned here on this website, and in social media circles.

Berchman.com is based in Ojai, California—specifically in the foothills of the Los Padres National Forest (where I can often be found hiking).

About Bert Mahoney

Berchman” is my middle name. It’s a family name given to me by my parents and it’s the dot com that I use on this website.

My formal training is deep in the fine arts (Bachelor of Fine Arts) with a concentration in painting. I simultaneously received formal training in information science (Bachelor of Science in computer programming and management). Then there is the nearly 20 years I’ve been helping make the Internet better one pixel and user experience at a time.

I’ve been fortunate to work with great people; mentors, colleagues, and clients in the design and communication fields. I’ve been in the newspaper publishing, magazine publishing, public, private, retail, education, and professional consulting worlds. I began my career primarily designing and producing for the static medium of print, and then I experienced the Internet first hand in the early 1990’s.

I started designing and programming websites in 1995 and have not stopped learning since. I started working with WordPress in 2005 and began consulting with clients full-time. I enjoy taking what I’ve learned and helping others make their website work for them. I am always looking to make connections and facilitate them.

I welcome new ideas, and love new challenges. When not scouring the Internet for new ideas and inspiration, I like to relax at home with my wife, three sons, and a menagerie of pets.
